What is considered a dental emergency
A dental emergency refers to a situation that requires immediate dental attention to alleviate severe pain, prevent further damage, or address a potentially life-threatening condition.
The common examples of dental emergencies include:
Severe toothache that is persistent with intense tooth pain that disrupts normal daily activities may indicate an underlying dental issue, such as an infection or abscess, requiring urgent treatment.
Accidents or injuries that result in fractured, cracked, or knocked-out teeth require immediate dental attention. Prompt treatment can increase the chances of saving the tooth or preventing further damage.
Excessive or uncontrollable bleeding from the mouth, gums, or tongue may result from trauma, injury, or a dental procedure complication. Immediate evaluation and intervention are necessary to control bleeding and address the underlying cause.
Swelling or Infection, such as facial swelling, particularly accompanied by fever, may indicate an infection or abscess. These conditions require urgent treatment to prevent the spread of infection and alleviate pain.
Gum infections, such as advanced periodontal disease or gum abscesses, can lead to pain, swelling, and the potential for tooth loss. Immediate dental care is crucial to prevent further complications and preserve oral health.
It's important to note that these are general guidelines, and the severity of each situation may vary. If you are experiencing any dental problem that causes significant pain, discomfort, or concern, it's recommended to contact us immediately for advice or emergency dental care. We will assess your situation and provide appropriate guidance or treatment to address the dental emergency effectively.
