Looking for something sweet and tooth-friendly this Christmas? These delicious oat & spice cookies use less sugar and are packed with flavour — perfect for cosy evenings without overloading your teeth.
✨ Ingredients (makes 12–15 cookies):
-
100g soft butter
-
60g light brown sugar (less than traditional recipes!)
-
1 medium egg
-
1 tsp vanilla extract
-
120g plain flour
-
100g rolled oats (great for slow-release energy)
-
1 tsp ground cinnamon
-
½ tsp mixed spice
-
½ tsp baking powder
-
Optional: a handful of dried cranberries or dark-chocolate chips (at least 70% cocoa for a tooth-friendlier option)
✨ Method:
-
Preheat the oven to 180°C (160°C fan) and line a baking tray with parchment.
-
Beat the butter and sugar together until light and creamy.
-
Add the egg and vanilla, and mix well.
-
In a separate bowl, combine flour, oats, spices and baking powder. Stir this into the wet mixture until just combined.
-
Fold in cranberries or dark chocolate if using.
-
Scoop small spoonfuls onto the tray, flatten gently with the back of a spoon.
-
Bake for 10–12 minutes until golden at the edges.
-
Cool on a rack — then enjoy with a glass of water or a cup of tea! ☕✨
